Unit 3: Geography/ Native Americans
Our unit will focus on the various regional Native American cultures. We will also study and learn about major geographical landforms of the United States including the states and capitals. The unit objectives are listed below.
To understand why the earliest Americans formed communities. To understand the critical components of a community and how they are the same in different settings (across history and geography). To understand how Native Americans used local resources to survive. To understand how geographic location, landforms, and natural resources influenced the different cultures of Native Americans. To understand the cultures of each region (food, clothing, shelter, crafts and tools, customs and celebrations, gender roles). To notice similarities and differences between the different regions. To learn how the Native American communities live and thrive today. To name and identify the 50 states and capitals, major landforms.

Unit 2: Early American Explorers
Our next unit will focus on the essential question How/Where Does American History Begin? We will begin by discussing the migration of humans and animals to the Americas. We will also learn about the impact of Beringia and the contributions of the Vikings through their explorations and discoveries.
